Pulau TINGGI or TINGGI Island is a low-key gazetted marine park island off Johor's eastcoast with no crowds.
It is a haven with clear waters, white sandy beaches, abundant of corals & fishes. It has pristine white sandy beaches, azure turquoise blue waters, & excellent with a variety of marine lifes. The first glimpse of the island is a cone-shaped mountain towers into the clouds (Mount Semundu: 2000ft / 600m above sea level).
During the olden days the Chinese Traders called it "The General's Hat Island". North-Eastern coast is a wild uninhabited place of rocky headlands, 30m-high cliffs, seacaves and quiet beaches.Southern coast of the island has a few smaller islands that is popular with angling / fishing, snorkelling & scuba diving activities: Pulau Mentinggi, etc.
Popular Recreation Activities at Pulau Tinggi are Beach Swimming, Walking / Strolling along white sandy beach, Snorkeling at the coral reefs spots / islands, Visit the Marine Park Centre for Marine Awareness, Visit Turtle Hatchery, Rock Climbing / Hiking / Jungle Trekking to the top of the mountain offers superb panoromic views / waterfall, Sighting Fireflies congregate on the mangrove trees at night, Kayaking, Sailing, Wind Surfing, Scuba Diving, Angling / Fishing, & etc.
HOW TO GET THERE??
From North-South Expressway take the Ayer Hitam exit (Interchange 244) and drive towards Kluang and onwards using the Kluang-Jemaluang trunk road. After Jemaluang town, get onto the Kota Tinggi-Mersing trunk road, heading towards Mersing. Look out for signboards that will lead you to Mersing Jetty. Pulau Tinggi is approximately 45 minute's boat ride from Mersing Jetty. |
